So hey you know all that chatter about a big-budget RPG with nonwhite main characters and gay characters?
Haha no not that one that you just thought of, the one made back in 2005.
I’m talking about Jade Empire.
Jade Empire was an action-RPG by Bioware, done in about the same style as the original Knights of the Old Republic. It has its flaws: mostly the glaringly black and white morality system (again, see Knights of the Old Republic). But on the other hand, it’s a mainstream Western RPG set in a fantasy version of Imperial China, and you can have gay romance options! Without even the idiotic pussyfooting about you get in Mass Effect 3.
Granted, the two gay smooches fade to black, but there’s a mod for that.
Jade Empire is currently only about $15 on Steam, so once you’ve gotten all the fan rage about Mass Effect 3 out of your system, why don’t you go buy that and inform Bioware that yes, we want 1. moar gay and 2. moar kung-fu action jesus (deconstruction thereof)
Second this. Jade Empire is amazing. And I liked the combat when a lot of people thought it was clunky.

Robin Atkin Downes played Sagacious Zu in Jade Empire, Brynjolf in Skyrim and Sean in The Saboteur. So now whenever he talks all I can pictures is a rough looking Asian man running through Skyrim to liberate it from Nazis and to pick their pockets. So amusing…

A challenge from Gao the Lesser; the truth about Master Li’s past; the assault on Dirge; obtaining the Dragon Amulet in the Spirit Cave; a strange spirit; rumors of Dawn Star’s kidnapping

Woo! Radiant Jen Zi!
And I loved Jade Empire. Play it if you haven’t!

THIS.
This is probably my favourite bioware game so far and it introduced me to bioware’s game (mass effect, dragon age).
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.
